Academic Director of the African Regional Training Network for Medical and Allied Health Sciences (AFRET).

Honors: Recepient of many awards and travel fellowships including: Biology prize award (73); Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates & Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst.

Professional Activities: Active in 15 scientific societies including International Union of Physiological Sciences – Member Commission on Teaching (94-01), Member General assembly (93-); International Society for Pathophysiology – Member Teaching Commission (91- 2000), Member Council (91-98 & 06-); African Association of Physiological Sciences- Secretary, Constituent Committee (89), Secretary General (89-2000), President (2000 -), Chair Commissions on Teaching and Pathophysiology (97 -2000), Co-convener 1st, 2nd and 3rd Congresses and Workshops; AFRET – Secretary to Council (97-), Convener of Workshop at Lahti (97); American Physiological Society, Society of General Physiologists etc.

Research Interest: Hormonal regulation of gastrointestinal and reproductive tract function; malnutrition and early brain damage; and studies on factors that influences human behavior. Has numerous presentations at International meetings. Currently serving on Editorial Board of six International Journals and External reviewer to six Universities including the Alagappa University, India. Published over 130 papers in reputable journals.
